Smart Robotics’ History
2015
The story begins
Smart Robotics was founded on the first of May 2015, by Mark Menting and Heico Sandee. They opposed the status quo within the robotics industry and noticed there was a need for renewal. Traditional robot applications are created for a specific project and need custom programming, resulting in high costs per installation, low flexibility and limited functionality. However, in today’s society there is an ever increasing and varying consumer demand, which is why logistics- and production companies are in need of more flexible and innovative pick & place automation.

In 2015, Smart Robotics started at a small office at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Nowadays, we are situated in our head office in Best, in the middle of the high tech region Brainport. After our start, Smart Robotics was quickly noticed within the industry. Nowadays, you can find our pick and place robots all over the world and we have developed a strong partner network within Europe and beyond.

The story of Smart Robotics
The story of Smart Robotics is one of adopting a bold company name and living up to it from day one. Delivering on their ongoing promise of providing customers with automated robotics solutions, Smart Robotics continues to innovate the global landscape of Logistics with their Smart technology. Adding new chapters to our story each day.
But what is smart? Give an average packing robot an item to handle that its not programmed for and you’ll see how silly ‘smart’ can look. To us, smart means being aware. Being able to adjust and adapt to new circumstances. This is what we design our robots for. With sensors and self-learning software, adjusting and improving over time, our robots and cobots are intuitive and smart.
Smart also means knowing what to do and when. To listen, to plan, and to act/react when it counts. Familiarizing yourself with the customers’ operations, goals and challenges, and designing the best possible solution around it. Once the action plan is in place, our story continues. We keep monitoring the system, tracking its progress and identifying opportunities for further gains where they may arise.
By being a pick and place partner, more so than being a supplier, we go from state-of-the-art robots to world class solutions in pick and place automation. Now that’s Smart Robotics, in every sense of the word and embedded in our story.
